BMCC TRIBECA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER BOARD PRESIDENT WELCOMES NEWEST BOARD MEMBER
(New York, NY) March 9, 2015 — Richard T. Kennedy, President of BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center’s Board of Directors (www.tribecapac.org/board), is delighted to welcome Thomas Cook, of Washington DC, to the board. Mr. Cook was voted onto the Board of Directors at the February 26, 2015 board meeting, which took place at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, New York, NY.
“Mr. Cook has shared his enthusiasm and is delighted to be a part of such an amazing project that will help continue and advance the arts and education in the great city of New York. He is looking forward to his friends and clients’ great support to help with the continued success of a worthy organization. Mr. Cook, Sr. Managing Partner & Chief Executive Officer of Thomas Cook & Associates, specializes in public relations, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, marketing, rebranding, development, government relations, strategic alliances and celebrity recruitment. His extensive background in new business development and networks of celebrity and entertainment industry contacts brings a unique dimension to events, public relations and cause-related marketing campaigns with strategic corporate partnerships.
Some of his various projects in the past have included the US-Ireland Business Summit, the American-Ireland Fund, the Leukemia Ball, the Capital River Relief project, the Innovation in Prevention Awards Dinner, Project Children, Vital Voices, the 10th anniversary of the United States Holocaust Museum, the WWII Memorial Dedication, the Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Dream Team, the National Hospice Foundation, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial.
Mr. Cook has also worked in close alliance with the Department of Health & Human Services, American Airlines, DECA High school programs throughout America, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the National Guard Youth Foundation, and the Department of Defense “America Supports You” campaign, and NASDAQ.
Thomas Cook is a consummate entertainer, singer, songwriter, recording artist, producer and performer. Among Mr. Cook’s production credits are the 2000 Emmys, the 2000 Kennedy Center Honors, the Special Olympics, White House Christmas Special, Fox TV’s A Secret Wedding, the American Negro Scholarship Fund (ANSF) Telethon, and the 2001 Oscars. Mr. Cook has worked with Bette Midler, in Mexico and the United States with Englebert Humperdink, Wayne Newton and Jerry Seinfeld with the WDC Leukemia Ball. He co-hosted “Avenue of the Stars” with Vanna White, produced a Playboy one-week special event and appeared before His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, as well as before U.S. Presidents George Bush & Jimmy Carter. Mr. Cook worked Larry King Live and the Ambassador’s Ball at the Breaker’s Hotel Palm Beach. He served as the chairman of the Kennedy Center 2007 Awesomely Bad Ball which featured his command performance. Mr. Cook also appeared before H.E. John Cardinal O’Connor in New York, The Miami City Ballet, and the Indy 500 opening ceremony event.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Cook distinguished his experience by performing for many charitable causes and has been honored for his work by Presidents Ronald Regan and George W. Bush, as well as from members of Congress, the American Heart Association and was presented with the Outstanding Young Men of America award among his many other recognitions. He has produced, directed and performed in national fundraising concerts for the Salvation Army, Cystic Fibrosis, the American Red Cross, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Race Against Drugs Campaign. He traveled the world with the cast of Up With People and has composed original music for Olympic figure skating medalists Peter and Kitty Caruthers.
A native of Boston, Mr. Cook studied at Florida State University and Indiana State University, where he founded and was President of the Sigma Chi Fraternity chapter.
Mr Cook is also proud to mention he is a descendant of one of the world’s greatest authors, Ralph Waldo Emerson.
